Dr. Sarah Phipps is a 2007 graduate of University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. Since graduation, she has practiced at Spoon River Animal Clinic as a DVM and has also become a co-owner. Gaining a sense of fulfillment from the relationships formed with clients, pets, and staff members, she has found a second home and extended family at Spoon River. Helping clients through each stage of their pet's life is a hallmark of her career. Highly compassionate, Dr. Phipps volunteers with Meals on Wheels, an organization that supports senior citizens by delivering food to their homes. Steak and potatoes is her personal feast of choice and there is a good chance you will find her dining at Tracy's Supper Club. She finds enjoyment in horseback riding, scary movies, and spending time with her beloved husband, son, and furry companions. Dr. Phipps adores her cat, Devaney, and three dogs, Cooper, Gus, and Jethro, who can sit, stay, and dig holes.
Over 35 years ago, Dr. Anthony Eaton pursued his passion for animals and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from University of Illinois. Ever since, he has been providing unmatched care for the animals of Spoon River Animal Clinic. While Dr. Eaton has a fondness for all animals, working with exotics excites him the most. A native to Peoria and a lover of pizza, he is a regular at Brienzo's Wood Fired Pizza. He cannot get enough! During his free time, he delights in model railroading, playing a game of golf, and gardening. Dr. Eaton is a husband and father of two daughters, a son, and two canines- Quinn, a Dachshund and Rigby, a Chihuahua.
Dr. Kari Jo Kelso is excited to join Spoon River Animal Clinic's veterinary team as a part-time associate veterinarian. Dr. Kelso began working in the veterinary field in 2009, and completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences in 2015. Her areas of professional interest include ophthalmology and cytology. Dr. Kelso believes the best part of working in the veterinary field is the relationships she builds with all of her patients and their families. Originally from Macomb, IL, Dr.Kelso currently resides there with her golden retriever, Ryder, and cat, Tex. When Dr. Kelso isn't caring for animals, she enjoys reading, paddle boarding, and spending time at the lake.
